Borough Hall to reopen on Friday
The curtain will go up at the Borough Hall this weekend as the venue starts to welcome visitors again.
Staff had to close the doors at the hall in Bridge Street as the pandemic hit, and will be opening again with strict Covid-19 security measures in place.
The reopening event will be a Gag House comedy night this Friday (October 2nd) and a screening of a show by tenor Jonas Kaufmann on Sunday (October 4th).
Covid-19 safety measures at the hall will include signs and markings to help guide visitors safely through the building; physically distanced seating; enhanced cleaning of all areas; contactless payments and the use of face coverings.
Councillor David Beaman, Waverley's portfolio holder for health, wellbeing and culture, said: "We are really looking forward to welcoming visitors old and new back through the doors of Borough Hall. It is a venue that is well used by the community and, I know, has been much missed.
"Of course, our main priority is to ensure people's safety and so a range of measures have been put in place to make sure that visitors can enjoy the entertainment and feel relaxed while doing so."
Therse will be more events at the hall throughout the autumn, culminating in this year's professional panto, Beauty and the Beast.
As a welcome back to visitors, the Borough Hall is running a competition, with the winner getting a set of family tickets (six tickets) to any cinema screening in 2020.
All you have to do is answer the following question:
Dr Dolittle returns to the big screen on Saturday, 10th October 2020.Which historical figure do Dr Dolittle and his animal friends travel far and wide to find a cure for?
The winner will be selected next Friday (October 9th).
