Bowring House CCTV to tackle anti-social behaviour

By The Editor 14th Jul 2020

CCTV cameras have been installed at Bowring House in Farncombe following complaints about anti-social behaviour by young people in the area.

The four cameras have been put in by Waverley Borough Council: two are internal cameras, and the others are trained on the car park and the footpath where it runs uderneath the building.

Police have also stepped up patrols in the area, and one person has been handed a Criminal Behaviour Order following an appearance at Surrey Youth Court.

Surrey Police Borough Commander Gary Smith said: "We appreciate that an ongoing number of incidents of ASB in and around Farncombe have understandably concerned local residents.

"As well as increasing patrols in problem areas, the latest step in the right direction to tackle the issue has seen the installation of CCTV cameras in and around Bowring House. The installation of these cameras means we have constant 'eyes and ears' on this area and can act quickly to address any problems.

"Hopefully the cameras will deter any offenders, however the footage will also provide us with evidential opportunities if offences continue."
