Cornmeter will stay in Godalming, although probably on a different site, owner John Taylor has told Godalming Nub News.

The Church Street store is set to be drastically reduced in size if planning permission granted for the site last night is implemented.

Mr Taylor told us: "I can confirm that Cornmeter will continue: whether it will be where we are, or somewhere else in the High Street, I can't confirm at this stage."

The store moved its blinds and curtains department to a new shop at the top of the High Street, near the Pepperpot, last January.

Mr Taylor said Cornmeter had enjoyed "record weeks" during the lockdown: as an essential store it is permitted to stay open under Government guidelines.
