Surrey County Council has supplied £15 vouchers to the families of all children eligible for free school meals in the county.

The vouchers will help parents and carers support 18,000 children and young people during the half-term break.

They can be only be exchanged for food, and can be used in most supermarkets and the McColl's chain of local shops.

They have been sent by email or text, with printed vouchers provided to parents who couldn't access them online.

The cash for the vouchers came from the government as part of the £170m Covid Winter Support Grant announced last November. The Winter Support Grant has supported 26,661 households in Surrey duruing the pandemic.

They are being supplied by national company Wonde.

Parents or young people who have received vouchers, or who have questions about the scheme, can find out more on the School Vouchers support website.
