Deadline for applying for developers' cash is pushed back
Local groups and organisations have been given an extra four months to apply for money from a pot of developers' cash.
The deadline for applications to the fund, which distributes Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) cash - the money handed over by developers to help pay for infrastructure such as improving roads, expanding schools and creating public parks and sports facilities - has been moved back from this month to next January.
Waverley Borough Council decides who gets the money.
The first annual bidding round opened for bids in June and was due to close last Friday, but the authority has extended the closing date to January 31st.
Waverley councillor Nick Palmer said: "We have already had a number of applications. However, by extending the deadline, we hope this will encourage those local groups who may not have as much experience in the process and find it takes longer to complete their application, to put their bid in.
"It really is a great opportunity for a range of infrastructure providers, from Surrey County Council and town and parish councils to local groups or organisations, to gain funding for their projects and help improve the lives of Waverley residents.
"I would urge potential bidders to take advantage of the extended deadline and submit an application at the earliest opportunity."
Bids must be made using the application form here.
