Community radio station Kane FM broadcast its World Beats show from Record Corner in Pound Lane today, with DJ Floored Capri on the mic.

The station has broadcast from the shop on several occasions, in a partnership that aims to bring classic jazz, soul, dub and afrobeat music tracks old and new to a new audience. Hiphop, punk, reggae and folk also feature on the eclectic World Beats playlist.

"I play music from all over the world, some new, some old," Floored told Nub News.

"Some of these are old tracks, and some are digitally reissued records."

Kane FM has a 'recommended' selection of tracks and albums available through the shop.

"It's lovely to have this as my office today," he adds, nodding around at the shop with its racks upon racks of records.

Floored has been broadcasting from his garden shed during lockdown after Kane was forced to temporarily close its studios at Surrey University, and says he is glad to get out and about again.

He gets a great reception at Record Corner, he says: "People come in and chat to me. When we were here on Record Store Day (August 29th) the queue was right round the corner.

"Kane is a community radio station and this is where we like to be."

The World Beats show is broadcast Thursdays, 11am to 1pm on Kane FM at 103.7FM.
