Godalming Leisure Centre is set to open its doors again next week, although there will be some changes.

The gym and pool will be open, although the pool will be for lane swimmers only, there will be limited equipment available in the gym, and exercise classes will be smaller.

There will also be fewer classes to allow for deep cleaning between sessions. Gym users are asked to wipe down the equipment before and after they use it, and swimmers will need to maintain social distancing in and around the pool.

Users will have to book before visiting via the centre website, use the hand sanitiser provided and observe social distancing measures throughout the building.

Places Leisure, which runs the centre on behalf of Godalming Borough Council, said in a statement: "We are working hard with our local authority partners on our re-opening plans, which will follow government and public health guidance, along with support from the fitness industry trade body ukactive, to make sure our customers and colleagues can return safely.

"We will be in touch with customers directly regarding the opening dates for each individual leisure centre, as well as the safety measures our centres will have in place."
