A new year has dawned, traditionally time for resolutions: to lose weight, get fit, give up smoking, eat more healthily, find a new job, learn a new skill...

Fear not, after a tough year last year Godalming Nub News has taken the stress out of keeping your resolutions by sourcing help from right here on your doorstep. Just read on for some ideas of how you can find support for your goal locally.

How about learning a new skill?

imadethisccfrafts is offering the opportunity to learn all sorts of creative skills online in the new year:

You can join the Intro to sew skill course, crochet for beginners and advanced, a cushion class or learning how to make a pair of short PJs. One-to-one sessions are also available. Visit the website for full details of when the classes take place and how to join.

Surrey Adult Learning is offering a huge range of courses online covering everything from computing to work skills, cooking to languages.

Want to lose weight?

Try Slimming World, which has shifted its classes online during the Tier Four regulations. Farncombe consultant Pauline Disley said: "Wow, what a shocker of a year! If there's one thing I've learnt throughout all of this, it's you can only do your best and what's within your control, so do you want to be in control of you - a happier you, a healthier you, a slimmer you?

Vowed to get more active?

Godalming Leisure Centre may be temporarily closed but Places Leisure, which runs it, is upgrading annual and subscription members free of charge to its Essential Studio membership, which offers 165 on-demand workouts plus up to 30% discount on more than 1,000 live streamed classes, for as long as the centre remains in Tier 4.
