Schools benefit from county council cash

By The Editor 1st Oct 2020

Both Broadwater and Rodborough schools have benefitted from the largesse of Surrey county councillors this week, with Rodborough getting cash for new basketbakl kits, and Broadwater receiving funding for new staging.

Rodborough's basketball players were pleased to receive the £500 allocated to them from Surrey's Members Community Allocation pot by county councillor Peter Martin.

Meanwhile, performers at Broadwater received £1,505 to help pay for modular staging, thanks to county councillor Penny Rivers.

Each county councillor has £5,000 funding for 2020/21 to help residents, voluntary and community organisations deliver activities that benefit local people in their neighbourhoods.

Members' Community Allocation funding can be used for one-off activities that cost just a few pounds, or can contribute to projects that cost much more.

The funding can help with costs that can range from buying sports equipment for local clubs, to the creation of websites to reach more residents.

Online applications for this round of funding can be submitted until 29th January 2021.

If you are interested in applying for Members' Community Allocation funding, here's how to do it:

Contact your local county councillor to discuss your project and see if it is something that they would consider supporting.

If your county councillor is happy to support your project, they will send you instructions on how to complete an online application.

Once you have completed the form and all the mandatory information is included, it is automatically sent to the Community Partnership Team for processing and ultimate approval.

If your application is successfully submitted, you will receive an email confirming receipt and containing a unique application number.

You will receive an email telling you whether your funding application has been approved.
