Sewing4Good hands over cash raised by face masks

The Arthouse at The Meath, and The Cellar were the recipients of two big cheques today, thanks to the sterling efforts of a group of stitchers in Godalming and surrounding villages.
Sewing4Good was set up as a Rotary Community Corps project to make face masks and medical scrubs from recycled sheets, pillowcases and duvet covers as the pandemic hit.
They have been selling the masks at stalls in the High Street, with 100% of the takings being donated to the two good causes.
Today Godalming Mayor Penny Rivers presented a cheque for £3,100 to Arthouse trustee Colin Stokes.
An Arthouse spokesperson said: "This donation means that we can continue to hold art sessions whilst putting in extra Covid precautions to keep the artists safe, such as a new separate entrance door and screens.
"We really appreciate the kindness and generosity of the whole team at Sewing 4 Good and everyone who bought a mask. Thank you so much!"
