A staff member at Godalming's Eastlake care home recently celebrated an incredible 40 years of caring for residents.
Team leader Sheila Elliott, 70, joined Anchor's team at Eastlake in 1980: she also recently celebrated her Golden Wedding anniversary, which made for a double celebration at the home.
A special cake was also prepared, with seashell decorations, to mark the occasion, and Sheila was also presented with gifts from other staff members and residents. Sheila attributed her many years at Eastlake to loving her work, improving the lives of older people. She said: "I'm honestly so touched by all the lovely treatment. I can't believe that 40 years havegone by so quickly!
"I have loved every minute of my time here. It's been so great, and I have met and worked with so many lovely people. Working for a not-for-profit has been really great, and Anchor have been an amazing employer for all these years."
Joan Weston, who has lived at Eastlake for six years, said: "I can't put into words how
amazing Sheila has been. I have lived here for six years and it's the best thing I ever did. Sheila iswonderful. Nothing is too much trouble, everyone loves her, and she is so respected by residents and staff.
Home manager Linda Grout said: "It is a privilege to work with Sheila, especially during the challenges we have all faced during the pandemic.
"She has brought the most fantastic energy and professionalism with her for every day she has worked for us.
"Her dedication, loyalty and commitment to Eastlake and the residents who live here has never been in question and is at the heart of what she does. All the staff, residents and family members think she is amazing. I'm honoured to work with her and delighted to call her my friend."
