Shopper seeks her 'Sainsbury's Angel'

By The Editor 21st Dec 2020

A Godalming woman has launched a search for the 'Christmas Angel' who came to her rescue in Sainsbury's after her purse was stolen.

Linda Merrony wrote on Facebook: "Today in Godalming Sainsbury's I met a real Christmas Angel. My purse was stolen whilst I did the Xmas shop.

"The amazing staff were wonderful and the brilliant security guy found it thrown in the car park, cards still intact.

"The gentleman, true gentleman, in the next checkout saw my meltdown and paid for my shopping. When I asked if I could reimburse him through PayPal he said 'No, it's okay, merry Christmas'.

"I can't thank him enough. If you are my Christmas Angel or someone who knows who he is please message me so I can repay his so gratefully received kind generosity to the neurotic panic meltdown in the pink raincoat."

Linda told Nub News the incident had come at a particularly auspicious time.

"Being Pagan myself, today is Winter Solstice, the darkest day, and he shone his light of kindness on my dark day," she said.

The man paid for her entire trolley-load of shopping: "It was a trolley load, £65 worth, our Christmas veg and treats etc.

"He's said he doesn't want repayment but I would like to give it to a charity of his choice if he's agreeable.

"I just think it would be nice to pass forward the kindness he's shown me."

Linda has asked the man to make contact with her via her Facebook page.
