Disruptive tenants of a house in Eashing Lane have been evicted after 'years' of antisocial behaviour.

Police obtained a full Closure Order against number 62 Eashing Lane at Staines Magistrates Court yesterday.

The order was made under the provisions of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.

The order means that no-one can enter 62 Eashing Lane until 19th July 2021.

The tenants have now been evicted.

A police spokesperson said the order was granted following years of anti-social behaviour associated with the house, including threats, verbal abuse, reckless and dangerous use of catapults in public places, violence and criminal damage.

Police and Waverley Borough Council housing officers collected evidence over several months from victims who gave evidence anonymously about the fear, anxiety and disruption caused by the behaviour of the occupants.

Godalming Town Council Leader Paul Follows, who represents the area on both the town and borough councils, said the move was "long overdue".

"The scale of ASB and general harm to the area over a number of years is such that this sort of action was necessary," he said.

"Police and Waverley staff have performed their duties exceptionally, and I know from speaking to many local residents how positively this news will be received."

Waverley Borough Commander Inspector Sam Adcock said: "Today's result sends a strong message to our neighbourhoods that Surrey Police is committed to tackling behaviour that is harmful and damaging to communities and serves as a warning to the perpetrators of anti-social behaviour that we will use all available legislation to pursue them, and to ensure that they are held to account.

"Anti-social behaviour has a massive impact on communities and will not be tolerated in Waverley. The local policing team, along with our partner agencies, will continue to work together to ensure that action is taken where necessary."

"If you suspect that someone is using the property or committing anti-social behaviour in the vicinity, please report it to us by calling 101 or or online. Always dial 999 if a crime is in progress. Reports can also be made anonymously via Crimestoppers.
