The cast has been announced for Godalming Theatre Group's production of Two this autumn.
The lockdown has forced the group to be even more creative than ever, and they have come up with the idea of streaming the performance so audiences can still enjoy the show.
Members have decided that, to comply with the rules around social distancing, they will record the performance and send it out digitally to their audience.
Two was written by award-winning playwright Jim Cartwright. Described as 'A sharp and touching slice of English life set in a pub owned by a savagely bickering husband and wife', Two is a series of short vignettes that combine pathos and humour to give an insight into the different patrons - each with a story to tell.
The play itself consists of nine scenes, with actors working in pairs or delivering monologues. This means that rehearsals and filming can be carried out while abiding by social distancing regulations.
The production will be filmed at The Star pub in Petworth, with rehearsals taking place over Zoom.
There will be no charge for the performance: instead audiences will be encouraged to make a donation to the Godalming Community Store in return for their virtual tickets.
The central characters are a pub landlord and landlady, played by Ben Dray and Anna Twaits. Anne Turner will play the old woman, Sam Thomas will play Moth. Maudie and the old man will be played by Josie Weller and Steve Alais, and Mr and Mrs Iger by Karen Scull and Howard Benbrook. Lorna Bye will play Lesley, Martin Chapman will play Roy, Molly Foges will take the part of the woman, and Joel Seaman will be the boy. An announcement will be made on the group's website when dates for the production have been set.
