Waverley Borough Council has deferred making a decision on plans by fruit grower Hall Hunter Partnership to keep polytunnels on some of its fields all year round.
The application seeks permission to keep the tunnels on 20 hectares of land all year on the site at Tuesley.

Surrey County Council has announced it is bidding for funding to turn its streetlights back on in the small hours, in response to concerns about the safety of people out and about in the dark.
No doubt the people of Godalming had the same thoughts about increased safety on the streets when the town's public electricity supply first went live 140 years ago.

South West Surrey MP Jeremy Hunt has added his voice to the debate over whether the BBC was right to run wall-to-wall coverage of the death of Prince Philip on Friday.
The corporation received so many complaints about its decision to cancel all scheduled programming in order to run tributes to the late Duke of Edinburgh that it decided to set up an online form for people to register their objections. The form has since been removed.

Red Lion landlord Charlie Neill-Hall pulled the first pint as the clock struck 12, marking the restart of business in the pubs for the first time since Christmas Eve.

The Wilfrid Noyce Centre will continue to house the Community Store for the foreseeable future, despite concerns raised by some town councillors about groups being unable to use it post-Covid.
Last week's meeting of the full council was discussing a report outlining the return of groups to community facilities when the debate arose. Groups will be able to return to use community facilities from tomorrow (Monday).
