Godalming's MP, Jeremy Hunt, has praised the way the community has come together to support one another during the coronavirus pandemic.

In a wide-ranging interview with Nub News Mr Hunt said he had been impressed with the way that people had pulled together to help out. Initiatives in Godalming during the pandemic have included the Community Store, which Mr Hunt recently visited.

Godalming Museum

Godalming Museum will partly reopen on Monday, 17th August, with a fascinating exhibition about the Saxon cemetery excavated in the town in 2014.

Godalming's Secret Cemetery will tell the story of the burial place, which was unearthed at a site a stone's throw from the church. Archeologists carried out two digs: on the site of what is now Priory Orchard, and in the Mint Street car park.

Now the rules on face masks have changed, and we all have to wear face coverings in shops and other enclosed public spaces, Nub News went out on the street to Take the Temperature of the Town on the matter...

"I am 100% in favour, I think we should have been wearing them for months," said Dawn Hetherington. "I started wearing a mask in April, and I usually wear it when I am out. If people walk by me I cover my face, because if they are asymptomatic they don't know if they have got it. A mask protects me and other people."
