Congratulations to Brett Carpenter, who has just joined Godalming Fire station as an on-call firefighter.

Brett is one of 12 new firefighters welcomed into Surrey Fire and Rescue Service last month. Each member of the group has been allcoated a role at station within Surrey. Of the 12, 10 are full-time firefighters and two will be on call.

SFRS's Chief Fire Officer, Steve Owen-Hughes, said: "The training they have undertaken is not easy, it takes hard work, determination and teamwork, and that is what every single one of these new recruits have shown. Welcome to Team Surrey, I look forward to working with you."

Surrey Fire and Rescue Service is currently recruiting firefighters on on-call contracts: these are people from all walks of life who offer daytime, evening and/or weekend cover at on-call fire stations in addition to their normal, day-to-day commitments. They are alerted by a pager when needed.

More information about current SFRS vacancies is available here.
