Waverley Borough Council is reminding residents, businesses and developers they need to give their views on the draft Local Plan Part 2 by Friday, 29th January.
Local Plan Part 2: Site Allocations and Development Management Policies is the second and final part of the borough's Local Plan and sets out the policies that govern decisions on planning applications and allocates sites for housing in Haslemere and Witley, where individual neighbourhood plans are not doing so. Local Plan Part 2 will also set out the location of sites for Gypsies and Travellers and will review other land designations in the borough.
Waverley has extended the consultation period on the plan to allow for the impact of coronavirus. By the time the consultation period ends on January 29th it will have run for nine weeks rather than the statutory six.
Councillor Andy Macleod, Waverley's Portfolio Holder for Planning Policy and Services, said: "We appreciate that the past several months have been very unusual and difficult times for our communities and that commenting on our Local Plan Part 2 consultation may not have been top of many people's priority list in December.
"But it is really important for the future of the borough that we get this right. We've put a huge amount of work into gathering evidence, consulting the public, landowners and developers, and working with local town and parish councils.
"We think that the Local Plan Part 2 is the best way to secure the sustainable and appropriate housing and economic growth the borough needs to thrive over the coming years, and to protect our environment, but we would welcome your thoughts on our new policies to guide future development and proposed land allocations. I would encourage everyone to please take the time to get involved and have their say."
