As Storm Francis sweeps in, the National Trust has decided to shut Winkworth Arboretum to visitors tomorrow (Tuesday).

The move marks the second time the arboretum has been closed due to high winds this month - last week officials closed it due to fears that Storm Ellen could cause damage to trees and pose a safety risk to visitors.

The Trust says it will contact all those who have bought tickets for tomorrow.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for wind across the south tomorrow. Heavy rain is forecast overnght and into tomorrow morning, and wind gusts of up to 45 miles an hour are forecast for most of the day and into the early hours of Wednesday.

Chief Meteorologist Andy Page said: "The UK is in for another unseasonably wet and windy spell with Storm Francis arriving. There will be strong winds and heavy rain, especially in the west of the UK. A number of severe weather warnings have been issued and these warnings can be updated regularly, so please keep up to date with the latest Met Office forecast."

Network Rail has warned of potential delays and cancellations as its network is battered by the storm, and Surrey Police have urged drivers to take care on the roads.
