Bins collection dates and other essential information you might need over Christmas

As Godalming looks forward to a very quiet Christmas, here is all the information you need about essential services over the festive period.

Bin collections.

There are changes to rubbish, recycling and food waste collection dates over the Christmas and new year period. If your bin is due to be collected today (Monday), tomorrow, Wednesday or Thursday this week, it will be collected as normal.

If your bin is due to be collected on Friday, it will be collected on Monday, December 28th instead.

In New Year week, if it's due to be collected on Monday, December 28th it will be collected on Tuesday, December 29th.

Bins due to be collected on Tuesday, December 29th will be picked up on Wednesday, December 30th.

Bins due to be emptied on Wednesday, December 30th will instead be collected on Thursday, December 31st.

Those due for collection on Thursday, December 31st will be picked up on Saturday, January 2nd.

Collections scheduled for Friday, January 1st will be carried out on Monday, January 4th.

The following week, commencing Monday, January 4th, all bin collections will shift back by one day: Monday's collection will take place on Tuesday, and so on until Friday's scheduled collection, whch will take place on Saturday, January 9th.

There will be no garden waste collections in the weeks beginning December 21st and January 3rd.

Clinical waste collections will continue as normal over the Christmas and New Year period.

The Community Recycling Centre at Witley will be open over the festive period during its normal hours of Monday to Sunday, 8am to 4pm. It will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.

If you are a Waverley housing tenant and need an emergency housing repair call 0330 119 3000. An emergency repair is needed if the emergency could pose a danger to your health or that of other occupants in your home; be a risk to your safety or that of other occupants in your home; or potentially cause serious damage to your home. The out-of-hours emergency contact number for all Waverley residents is 01483 523200.

The Waverley Community Helpline offices will be closed from 4pm on Thursday, 24th December until 8.45am on Monday, 4th January, but messages to the helpline will be checked daily between December 29th and 31st.

Careline will be closed from 4pm on Thursday, 24th December until 8.45am on Monday, 4th January. The monitoring centre will be open throughout Christmas so anyone with a red button should use it as usual. To speak with the monitoring centre urgently, contact them directly on 01243 778688. Waverley Borough Council's offices will close for Christmas at 4pm on Thursday, 24th December and will reopen at 8.45am on Monday, 4th January.
