Waverley is set to join the rest of Surrey in Tier Four of the Government's Covid-19 restrictions, Health Secretary Matt Hancock has announced.

The news - which means a 'stay at home' order will be in force - comes with the discovery of a new strain of the virus which has come into the country from South Africa. Mr Hancock said that anybody who has been in South Africa within the last two weeks must isolate immediately.

Waverley has joined the rest of the county in the highest level of restrictions along with other areas that border those currently in Tier Four. Sussex, Oxfordshire, Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, Hampshire, with the exception of the New Forest, and the parts of Essex and Surrey not already in the toughest restrictions are on the list of areas where restrictions will be tightened.
