Calling Godalming's gardeners!

Godalming Town Council has put out a call to the town's gardeners to help stock the Community Store.

The store, which is at the Wilfrid Noyce Centre, takes donations of food, plus hygiene and cleaning products, to support people who have lost their jobs or been otherwise financially impacted by the Coronavirus pandemic.

Nub News visited the store last month.

In its first 100 days, from April 20th to July 28th, the store provided 12,180 days' worth of supplies to people in the community facing food insecurity. Organisers say the number of people using the store is growing daily.

Some allotment holders are already donating their surplus produce, but the store is in need of more.

So if you are a Godalming Gardener who has grown too many tomatoes, lots of lettuces, gallons of green beans, pots of peas and potatoes and an abundance of apples,

please consider donating those surpluses to the store, to help cut down on waste and provide more fresh produce for those in need of support. The store works with local restaurant Acorn, which turns excess produce into delicious meals, which are then made available at the store. The Godalming Allotment Association and the Garden House Project have also donated fresh produce. To find out how and where to donate items, visit the Godalming Town Council website
