A video celebrating how people have rallied round to provide festive goodies for people in need this Christmas has gone live on the Godalming Town Council website.

It was created by store volunteer Pippa to celebrate the contributions from the community and show how the hampers are made up.

The store's Grand Christmas Draw, organised by volunteers and spearheaded by oganiser Patrick Andre, saw 5,000 tickets sold and £10,000 raised to buy the contents of the hampers as well as helping stock the store over Christmas and into the new year.

Godalming Mayor Penny Rivers drew the winning tickets in the town centre on December 5th.

The proceeds from the draw will help 87 households in need over Christmas, made up of 157 adults and 111 children.

Godalming Town Council said last week saw a "bumper amount" of donations being made to the store.

Rodborough Schol donated five trollies of items donated by pupils and teachers as part of the school's Advent Project, while Waitrose had delivered two carloads of donations from shoppers.

"There have been individual donations and the hub boxes continue to be well stocked with donations," the council added.

"Thank you to everyone – you have really made a difference."
