Community Store boosts foodbank help for those in need

By The Editor 10th Jul 2020

Godalming Community Store has issued a list of items it urgently requires to help those affected by the Coronavirus pandemic.

People in the town have been hugely generous in their support for the scheme, which is being run by Godalming Town Council, in collaboration with the Farncombe and Godalming Coronavirus Assitance Group and the St Mark's Food Bank.

It offers food, cleaning supplies and toiletries to those hit by the pandemic: people who have lost their jobs, been furloughed or facing a long wait for Universal Credit.

Items urgently required are:

Cleaning products (especially bleach)

Cooking saucces ( non-tomato based)

Cereal

Sweet treats

Hot chocolate

Savoury snacks

Shower gel

Tinned vegetables

Tinned meat meals

Tinned vegetarian meals

Washing powder/laundry liquid. While the above are in particularly short supply, the community store says that all donations of in-date, unopened tinned and packaged foods, sanitary products and domestic cleaning products will be very much appreciated. Donations can be made at the store, which is open at the Wilfrid Noyce Community Centre, from Monday to Friday, 10.30am to 12.30pm. You can also donate between 9am and 11am at the following drop-off points: Binscombe Church

St John's Church

Busbridge Church

Milford Village Hall

Godalming College

The Borough Hall

Bramley Infant School

Compton Club
