Waverley's grounds maintenance contractor, Continental Landscapes Ltd, has taken delivery of three new electrical vehicles at its Waverley depot.
The authority says the vehicles will increase efficiency and reduce the company's carbon footprint.
Continental, which looks after all Waverley Borough Council-owned and maintained parks and countryside areas, has fitted charging points at its depot and bought a Nissan ENV200 electric van for its playground inspections, as well as two Peugeot Beavertails to transport grass-cutting crews and machinery.
Councillor Liz Townsend, Waverley's Portfolio Holder for Economic Development, Parks and Leisure, said: "As a council working towards a goal of being carbon-neutral by 2030, we are doing all we can to fulfil our own carbon commitment, but also encouraging partners and suppliers to adopt energy efficient practices where possible; it is wonderful to see Continental making the changes towards lower emission vehicles and doing their bit towards helping us achieve our goal."
Waverley has already set to work on cutting back its carbon emissions and supporting the move towards a net-zero carbon borough by 2030.
It has allocated £300,000 to support its Climate Emergency Action Plan, and is now looking at building zero-carbon homes, making Waverley buildings more energy efficient, supporting community energy hubs, promoting walking, cycling and sustainable transport, and harnessing solar energy in some locations.
At the moment there are six electric charging points across Waverley: a double point in Crown Court, Godalming; a double point in Haslemere High Street; and a double point at Stocklunds Square, Cranleigh.
