Extinction Rebellion activists stickered ATMs in Godalming over the weekend as part of a national campaign that also saw banks in Farnham, Cranleigh and Guildford targeted.
The stickers were fixed to HSBC and Barclays cashpoints.
A spokesman for the Godalming group told Godalming Nub News: "Members of XR Godalming used their daily exercise walks in their local area to decorate ATMs at branches of these banks in Godalming, Guildford, Farnham, Cranleigh, Midhurst and Worthing.
"HSBC and Barclays are the two worst offenders in Europe when it comes to banks funding fossil fuel projects, cumulatively investing nearly £150billion in coal, oil, gas and tar sands since the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement, including the controversial Dakota Pipeline in the US.
"The stickering protest signals the start of a year of escalating nationwide action aimed at pushing these banks to divest from fossil fuel interests, and to make their customers aware and encourage them to switch banking provider."
Godalming Nub News has approached HSBC and Barclays for comment.
