Godalming photographer captures images of life in lockdown
A Godalming photographer and television producer who has been documenting life in the town during lockdown has raised a staggering £4,000 for charity by photographing people on their doorsteps.
Matt Gordon took photos of isolating households during his daily walks.
Following a period of self-isolation in March, Matt set out with his camera to photograph families and businesses in Godalming as we all struggled to adapt to the new way of living.
"Gathered on their front doorsteps, driveways and windows, this time has brought families together in a way unseen since the world wars," he said.
"All images were captured in April, May and June while always maintaining a social distance of at least two metres. Households were asked to donate whatever they could afford to whichever charity they wanted to nominate.
"My hope is these Lockdown Stories can provide a local record of this most unique time in history.
"I am hoping these portraits will become a local project that will present an affectionate and honest view of life in the town and surrounding areas during the weeks of the coronavirus lockdown."
Matt, who also photographed local business and shop workers during lockdown, has uploaded a gallery of his work to his website at www.matthewgordon.co.uk and can be found on social media at [L]https://www.facebook.com/mattgordonphoto[L+]@mattgordonphoto.
