Godalming's neigbourhood police officer, PC Chris Skillicorn-Aston, is urging people to stick to the rules until Covid-19 restrictions are finally lifted.

Writing on the Waverley Beat Facebook page, he said: "Speaking to people out and about today it's clear and no surprise at all that everyone is feeling really positive about the news regarding a proposed easing of lockdown and restrictions, but as one person put it... 'I hope people don't mess it up between now and then.'

"I couldn't agree more. I can't wait to see town centres thriving again, being able to police in a more personable way, dropping in on local businesses, community events, visiting people in their homes.

"But we're not there just yet - and if we don't stick to the rules now we won't be, we've come this far so let's not let our guard down and stick with it."
