Police are asking witnesses to step forward to help shed light on an incident in which a horse bolted into the path of a car.

The accident happened in Petworth Road at around 4.40pm on Sunday, August 30th.

Witnesses told police the horse bolted, and ran into a street lamp before falling down a bank. It then clambered back up the bank before falling in front of a car.

Officers have given no indication of where the horse had come from.

They say the horse was checked at the scene but didn't appear to have any physical injuries.

PC Luke Flint from Waverley Safer Neighbourhood Team said: "We attended the scene and spoke to a number of people on the day but I need them to come forward so I can speak to them further in order to establish the facts around what happened."

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the force, quoting crime reference number PR/45200095198.

This can be done via the force website at surrey.police.uk or by calling 101.
