Some are saying that Christmas might well be cancelled this year, as uncertainty about the pandemic engulfs us all.
But the producers of Godalming's Professional Pantomime are pressing ahead with their plans to put on a stage extravaganza for all the family.
The production this year is Beauty and The Beast, which will run from December 12th to 26th at the Borough Hall. There will be a relaxed performance on Sunday, December 13th at 4pm.
Beauty and the Beast is the tale of an arrogant prince who is turned into a beast as a punishment for his vanity and needs to find true love for redemption, with, say the producers, "spectacular song and dance, colourful costumes and lots of fun and laughs for the whole family."
The Professional Panto made its debut in Godalming last year with Jack and the Beanstalk.
Organisers say this year's event will be a Covid-safe production, with measures in place to ensure audience safety. The show will run for about one hour 15 minutes, with no interval. Audience members will be sat in socially distanced seating: each bubble will be a maximum of six people. Food and drink are not allowed in the venue but there will be a bar. The organisers say that if the show is cancelled due to Covid-19, audience members would have the option of a refund or an exchange for the 2021 pantomime.
