Children at Loseley Fields Primary School have been busy planting trees for future generations to enjoy as part of the Roots For The Future project.
Each class in the school has taken part in a tree-planting session during the project, which has seen them plant 610 saplings into two hedgerows, 14 semi-established trees (one per class), an orchard of nine fruit trees and six honeysuckle plants.
Roots for the Future co-founder Francesca Fryer Rigdon ran a 45-minute workshop for each class, showing the pupils how easy it is to make a lasting difference to the environment with a simple act such as planting a tree. The children then pulled on their wellies and headed outside to play their part.
The project is being jointly funded by Godalming Town Council's Carbon Reduction & Biodiversity Fund.
Town councillors Shirley Faraday and Gerry Boyle have both visited the school to see how the planting is going, and to admire all the children's hard work.
A spokesperson for the school told Godalming Nub News: "The children have been really enjoying these projects and there has been a real buzz while they are happening."
