Seven adorable new recruits have been welcomed to Surrey Police.

Click here to meet Toby, Tala, Todd, Tilly, Tom, Timber and Tier - collectively known as T Litter.

The Labrador pups were born in November; their mum is a brood bitch from the force's own breeding programme, and the dad an external stud dog.

A spokesperson told Nub News: "They all passed their initial assessments in late December and have just gone out to their puppy minders, who will act as their full-time foster families for the next 12 months.

"They will all continue to attend regular training sessions before becoming Police Search Dogs. There are a number of different categories of Search Dog – including scanning and proactive drugs dogs, those that search for cash and firearms, victim recovery dogs, and digital dogs, who are trained to search for items such as hard drives, sim cards and mobile phones."

The names have all been chosen in line with the force's dog naming system - and Tier obviously seemed appropriate!

Timber was named in honour of retired Inspector Stan "Timber" Wood MBE, who died in December. Stan was Inspector of Surrey Police Dog Training School from 1976 to 1986 and was instrumental in its development and the enhancement of its dog breeding programme.
