A housing developer is running a survey to establish the level of need for affordable homes in Godalming and Farncombe.

The survey is being carried out by Surrey Community Action on behalf of Falcon Communities, which in turn is the social enterprise arm of Falcon Developments. Falcon Developments works on behalf of landowners to gain planning consent for developments, carrying out its service free of charge on behalf of the landowner.

Falcon Developments has approached Godalming Town Council with a proposal to develop a site in Binscombe Lane, backing onto Copse Side. It says it will 'enable' a 'small-scale' development of homes for locally-connected first-time buyers and key workers with a local connection to the parish.

The site, which has been designated as suitable for development in the Waverley Local Plan, is described by Falcon as "part of the existing settlement and provide[s] the opportunity for a natural extension to Godalming."

"Key considerations," it goes on, "include the local landscape and character, as well as nearby heritage assets."

The Affordable Home Ownership survey went live today (Monday) and can be accessed here.
