Warning over vaccination scam texts

By The Editor

25th Jan 2021 | Local News

People waiting to be called for their first Covid vaccination are being warned not to fall for scam texts purporting to come from the NHS, asking for personal and bank details to pay for the vaccination.

The text above is a scam – there may be others.

People waiting for their first vaccination will be notified via a text or phone call from their GP, or a letter addressed to them by name, from the NHS. The notification will be an invitation to attend one of the vaccination centres. Recipients may be asked to provide their date of birth, but no other information.

The vaccination is free, so any communication that asks the recipient to pay is a scam.
