Waverley wants your views on its parks
Do you have something to say about how the borough's parks and green spaces are maintained?
Waverley Borough Council is again giving residents a chance to give their feedback. People completing the Greenspaces Survey 2020 could also win £200 in gardening vouchers.
The survey seeks to find out how well the council is performing in areas such as grass cutting, cleanliness of parks, play areas and green spaces in general.
As a direct response to last year's survey results, the council has already enhanced a number of areas over the past year, including setting aside wildflower areas to benefit pollinators and reducing the amount of pesticides used. A trial of non-pesticide weed control started this month in some areas of the borough.
The authority also plans to use more electric vehicles and machinery wherever possible, meaning lower vehicle emissions and less noise when carrying out maintenance. All grass cuttings and prunings are composted and used on council sites, with the surplus offered to local allotments and community gardens.
Councillor Liz Townsend said: "We are very lucky to have an abundance of wonderful green spaces in Waverley and we want to make sure that these are maintained to a high standard both to improve biodiversity and so that residents can continue to get out and enjoy each and every one.
"To ensure we have a good picture of just where our contractors are doing a great job or where some improvements could be made it's vital we get the input of our residents, so I would urge you all to take part - you could even win £200 worth of gardening vouchers to spruce up your own garden too."
Waverley manages 2.3 million square metres of green space across the borough, and nine of its parks and green spaces have been recognised by the Green Flag Award Scheme.
