Police are reminding residents not to fall for so-called courier fraud, following an incident in which an 87-year-old Godalming man was almost deceived into parting with his money.

Two 19-year-old men from London were arrested and bailed after the incident in June, which was only prevented after the man's neighbour intervened and called police. The pair have been re-bailed until 10th September.

Farncombe Day Centre staff pulled out all the stops to help their clients during lockdown, setting up a hot meal delivery service almost overnight - and last week hit a milestone with the delivery of their 2,500th hot dinner.

Told by the Government to close on Friday, March 20th, the day centre staff rallied round over the weekend, and by the Monday they were open, offering a hot food delivery service.

A Godalming woman has launched an online appeal to help staff affected by the recent fire at The Red Lion, which broke out just days after the pub reopened following weeks of lockdown.

Wendy Mansfield launched the Gofundme appeal after learning that the personal effects of the staff were not covered by the pub's contents insurance.

A plan to place a phone mast and four telecoms dishes on the roof of a retirement apartment building near the town centre is still hanging in the balance after the matter was deferred by Waverley councillors last night.

A decision on the scheme for a 5.5m telecoms pole, four dishes and four equipment cabinets on the roof of Caesars Place in Ockford Road, has been put back to a later date after an application by Godalming Central and Ockfords councillor Paul Follows.
