"It will be good to get back in action." That was the response of Godalming Town FC Commercial Director Glenn Lye today to news that outdoor sports can resume next weekend.

The Gs will resume their season with an away fixture at Farnham Town on Saturday, December 5th.

Speaking today (Thursday) shortly after Health Secretary Matt Hancock made his announcement to the House of Commmons that Surrey would be placed into Tier Two, Mr Lye said: "At this stage I think it means that we can resume fixtures, but are unable to sell alcohol at games."

Today's announcement clarified the rules for grassroots sports clubs with the new that sports can resume with up to 2,000 spectators, or 50% capacity – whichever is smaller.

Mr Lye added: "It will be a loss of some revenue, but it will be good to get back in action."
