Garden waste service to restart on March 1st

By The Editor 24th Feb 2021

Godalming's gardeners will be relieved to hear that Waverley's garden waste service will resume on March 1st.

The service was suspended in January after scores of staff were laid off with Covid or had to isolate

Fortnightly collections will restart from the week beginning Monday, 1st March, and all existing customers will be sent a letter or an email with information about the extension of their annual subscription.

Waverley councillor Steve Williams, the portfolio holder for environment and sustainability, said: "It was a difficult but necessary decision to make back in January following a rise in infections and corresponding staff absence; we had to ensure all available staff resources focused on the essential household waste and recycling collections.

"It has been a challenging time for all of us and the bin crews have worked extremely hard to keep these essential services going, but I am pleased to say that with staff levels getting back to normal, we are now able to deliver our garden waste service again."
