Godalming's MP, Jeremy Hunt, has said he "heaved a sigh of relief" when Health Secretary Matt Hancock announced today that Waverley would remain in Tier Two of the Government's Covid-19 restrictions.

"I'm sure like many people in South West Surrey today, I heaved a sigh of relief that Waverley escaped having to move to Tier 3, something I pushed hard for with Michael Gove over the weekend given that Waverley has the lowest infection levels in the county," he told Nub News.

"Obviously though we must remain very cautious going forward as these things can change and I would still urge people to consider carefully whether it is wise to mix indoors with older relatives over Christmas."
