New tenants are being sought for the former Barclays Bank building in the High Street.

Guildford-based commercial property agents Owen Shipp are marketing the 'attractive character building' at number 87.

The details describe the building as being in a "popular location within the prime section of Godalming High Street", and suitable for a number of uses.

The details describe a large open-plan retail area on the ground floor, with partitioned offices and a bank vault at the back.

The first floor is mainly open plan office space, with kitchen and toilets, and the second floor has more offices.

No cost to rent the building is given, but the listing does say the rates will cost the new leaseholder £35,512 a year.

The bank closed its doors last May, blaming declining footfall as customers moved online.

It had been operating on the site since 17th December 1928.

Adam Fenney from Owen Shipp told Godalming Nub News there were several commercial buildings coming to the market in the High Street over the next few weeks.

"We have seen lots of interest in Godalming High Street in general," he said. "There are good tenants that are looking already at these spaces."
