News that HSBC is set to close its Godalming branch in the summer, following hot on the heels of Barclays leaving the town, has caused some concern that the town has lost many of its banking facilities.
But did you know that Godalming used to have its own locally-owned bank? Not just the one either - there have been three private banks in the town over the years.

A Public Space Protection Order (PSPO), aimed at helping police deal with antisocial behaviour in Godalming and Farncombe, has come into effect after being approved by councillors on Tuesday.
It will stay in place for three years.
Volunteers are needed to help run Ockford Ridge Brownies and Guides.
The Guides, who are aged 10 to 14, meet on Tuesdays from 7pm to 8.30pm.

A new walk-in symptom-free testing site has opened at the borough council offices in Guildford today.
The testing centre, at the offices in Millmead, will be open every day from 8am to 7.30pm.

The Royal Surrey Hospital's Virtual Covid Clinic has been praised by a former patient after his experience of catching the virus left him breathless and fearful.
Joseph Joby, 36, from Guildford, caught Covid in January when he was looking after a resident in the care home where he works.
