The Plastic Free Godalming Campaign has received a boost from Godalming Town Council, which has agreed to throw its weight behind the campaign.

It has also resolved to take several positive actions, including no longer buying any single-use plastic items for use at its meetings or in its offices, and where possible using non-plastic products.

Protests against 5G mast plan

A wave of protest has greeted news of a plan to install a 5G telecoms mast near homes in Binscombe Lane, Farncombe.

The mast would be installed on the site of a radio base system which currently sits near the lane's junction with Binscombe Crescent.

Godalming Community Store has issued a list of items it urgently requires to help those affected by the Coronavirus pandemic.

People in the town have been hugely generous in their support for the scheme, which is being run by Godalming Town Council, in collaboration with the Farncombe and Godalming Coronavirus Assitance Group and the St Mark's Food Bank.

Godalming is slowly opening back up for business, although things have changed on the High Street.

The town council has banned parking in the High Street as part of its measures to ensure people adhere to social distancing rules, and the street has been closed to all traffic, except permit holders and delivery vehicles.
