Plans to add a first-floor extension to the King's Cuisine building in Kings Road, Farncombe, have met with no objection from Godalming town councillors.

The scheme, to add residential space at the front of the building, was discussed at Thursday's environment and planning committee meeting.

A report by Waverley environmental health officers says neighbours have complained about "long-running" issues with noise, cooking smells and grease from the site, but a proposed new extraction system, which would run to the top of the proposed new residential space, would be "a great improvement in the current situation". The prevailing south-westerly wind would take any residual steam "high up away from the nearest properties", the report adds.

Further conditions will be imposed on the type and servicing of the new extraction system, plus limits on the hours of operation, if permission is granted. The application will now go before Waverley for decision.
